About me as a musician and private piano instructor
Professionally, I consider both stage performance and piano teaching the same priority level. Having been fortunate to study with many of the
world-renowned performers and some of the most sought-after piano pedagogues in both Europe and United State, having lots of experience
in concerts, competitions, both solo and with piano accompaniment, I am pleased to pass the knowledge I have acquired to my students.
Piano teaching approach
Individual teaching approach is based on each student's learning style and
their unique individual needs. At the same time, students learn all the skills they need to succeed
in learning piano.
Students are not only taught
how to play piano, but also to gain an understanding of the music history behind the studied work. My instruction include
note reading and rhythm strategies, various hand and finger
techniques, certain elements of music theory and ear training. Particular attention is paid to
those aspects of technique, music meaning and its interpretation, and history that will help students better understand and
perform studied pieces. I insist that note reading, which also includes BOTH the rhythm and the pitch, is
the most important skill and should be taught from the very beginning if possible because it is also a root of
proper learning and practicing approach.
The carefully selected repertoire is based on each student's interests and background as well as intrinsic music values of each piece.
Repertoire selection is leveled progressively in difficulty.
From the outset students are taught how to learn and practice properly. Regular daily piano practicing
is absolutely necessary to create musical skills. It should however be remembered that if you practice in the wrong way, you can do more
harm than good. Proper, efficient learning and practicing takes less time and helps to reach the goals more quickly and successfully.
Family involvement in children's effort is very important. I will expect and appreciate parents' assistance and support. I am also
pleased to welcome the presence of parents in the classroom.
I set high standards for myself and students in order to achieve the best results, and prefer my students
to be serious, patient and focused on their music studies.
